The Hawai`i Health Information Exchange (Hawai`i HIE)

To support these goals, in September 2009, Hawai‘i HIE was designated by the state to develop a seamless, effective, and secure statewide health information exchange that ultimately links to the nationwide health information network. Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange is a robust, interoperable data exchange system that enables all health care providers, health plans, clinics, and hospitals to contribute and access complete health information with confidence. This secure exchange empowers participants to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of whole-person care, enhancing health outcomes for patients and reducing health care costs for the community.
