State Health Information Exchanges (HIE) come in all shapes and sizes but have one thing in common: To improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care delivered in their states. The Hawai`i Health Information Exchange (Hawai`i HIE)
The Hawai‘i HIE is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 2006 to enhance care coordination, to improve the health outcomes of Hawai‘i’s patients and reduce the cost of care for both patients and healthcare providers. To support these goals, in September 2009, Hawai‘i HIE was designated by the state to develop a seamless, effective, and secure statewide health information exchange that ultimately links to the nationwide health information network. Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange is a robust, interoperable data exchange system that enables all health care providers, health plans, clinics, and hospitals to contribute and access complete health information with confidence. This secure exchange empowers participants to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of whole-person care, enhancing health outcomes for patients and reducing health care costs for the community.
HHIE Provides Critical Patient Information for Hawaii Homeless Healthcare Hui – Lt. Gov. Josh Green, an emergency room physician, and Dr. Scott Miscovich, who specializes in urgent and palliative care in Kaneohe, saw the need to meet the health and social needs of Honolulu homeless. They formed H-4, a private-public partnership as a nonprofit organization, and has received extensive support from HMSA, the City and County of Honolulu, and The Queen’s Medical Center. The partnership continues to expand. HHIE is now a part of this public-private partnership, providing valuable real-time patient information for the H-4 team to deliver quality preventive care and management.
HealthSYNC of Louisiana
HealthSYNC of Louisiana (@HealthSYNCofLA) is a physician-led health information network delivered in partnership with the Louisiana State Medical Society (LSMS) offering a suite of health information technology tools to help health professionals across the state of Louisiana CONNECT. ANALYZE. ENGAGE. and TRANSFORM. the healthcare industry.

Iowa Health Information Network (IHIN)
The Iowa Health Information Network (IHIN) is the official statewide health information exchange (HIE) in the state of Iowa. IHIN aims to improve care, increase security, promote cost savings, streamline treatment and reduce medical errors through the secure exchange of electronic health information.
Iowa Health Information Network and PatientPing Partner to Power Real-Time Care Coordination Solution – The Iowa Health Information Network (IHIN), the official statewide health information exchange in Iowa, announced an innovative partnership with PatientPing, the nation’s most comprehensive care coordination platform. The partnership aims to improve care for patients across hundreds of hospitals, clinics, post-acute care facilities, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), health plans, and other community health care organizations throughout Iowa.
North Carolina Health Information Exchange Authority (NC HIEA)
In 2015 the General Assembly of North Carolina established a state-managed Health Information Exchange Authority (NC HIEA) to oversee and administer the NC Health Information Exchange Network. The NC HIEA is housed within the NC Department of Information Technology’s (DIT) Government Data Analytics Center (GDAC). The NC HIEA operates North Carolina’s state-designated health information exchange, NC HealthConnex, a secure, standardized electronic system in which providers can share important patient health information. The use of this system promotes the access, exchange and analysis of health information.
Mental health providers, others ask for delay to electronic health record requirement – North Carolina Health News reports as North Carolina quickly moves toward transforming Medicaid from a state-paid system to one run by managed care companies, lawmakers have been pushing providers to get their health records into electronic form. Now, as deadlines loom, some of those providers are pushing back. While most hospital systems and large clinics and physician practices have been online for several years, many smaller providers, in particular behavioral health providers, have not yet gotten their health records into bits and bytes.
California – SacValley MedShare
SacValley MedShare (@svmshie) is a member of the California Association of Health Information Exchanges (CAHIE) and serves the 16-county region of California, north of Sacramento, which includes the North Central Valley and the surrounding mountainous terrain. Its region is largely rural and mountainous, with travel limited by climate and season in much of the area. Good communication is critical to coordinate care between primary care, specialists, hospital providers, and skilled nursing care facilities that fulfill a vital role in post-discharge care for many patients.
New SVMS Board Member – SacValley MedShare’s welcomes their newest board member, Mons Jensen. Mons is Project Manager for Adventist Health. Adventist Health Feather River has been involved with SacValley MedShare since it’s founding in 2012 as Feather River Hospital is a founding member of SVMS. Mons has been a member of the Executive Committee and has attended SVMS board meetings since 2012.

Maine – HealthInfoNet
HealthInfoNet (@hinfonet) is a Maine-based, independent nonprofit designated by the State of Maine to operate Maine’s statewide health information exchange. The HIE links medical information from separate health care sites to create a single electronic patient health record. This record is accessible to a patient’s authorized health care providers to support treatment. HealthInfoNet provides a secure, standardized electronic system where health care providers can share important patient information, giving them the tools they need to make more informed treatment decisions, especially in an emergency.
HIN Listed Among Few Organizations Working with Social Determinants Data – HealthInfoNet was listed among the few organizations across the country that are addressing and using social determinants of health(SDoH) data to improve quality of care. HIN is proud to partner with DASH Connect and All In to mentor other organizations on the work we’re doing with SDoH; HIN hopes to help improve use of this important data not only in health care, but also in community partnerships/work.
Health Share Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania (HSX)
HealthShare Exchange (@HealthShareExch) is the greater Philadelphia region’s health information exchange for the five-county Southeastern Pennsylvania region. HSX is a unique, membership-dues-supported nonprofit formed by the Delaware Valley’s hospitals/health systems and healthcare insurers that links the electronic medical record systems of different hospital health systems, medical centers, and clinics — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — to make this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care, including medical practice offices.

Ohio – CliniSync
CliniSync (@CliniSync) is a nonprofit, independent, private organization originally funded from HITECH and the ONC. The Ohio Health Information Partnership assisted providers in EHR adoption and the infrastructure for statewide HIE. It was named CliniSync, which signifies Clinical data synchronization.
Xact Laboratories Partners with CliniSync to Increase Access to DNA Testing – Xact Laboratories announced a partnership with CliniSync to offer its comprehensive PGx test, XactMed4U®, through the CliniSync platform. The XactMed4U® test is a medication response test that analyzes a patient’s DNA to help physicians understand which medications and dosages work best for the individual patient, potentially leading to more effective prescriptions and fewer side effects.
Wisconsin Statewide Health Information Network (WISHIN)
In October 2010 Wisconsin officially announced its intention to designate WISHIN (@WISHIN_Pulse), a not-for-profit organization formed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality, and Wisconsin Health Information Organization, as the State-designated entity to govern statewide HIE. DE on October 25, 2010. WISHIN is responsible for implementing Wisconsin’s Strategic and Operational Plan. The plan requires multi-stakeholder collaboration and emphasizes ongoing development of government and policy structures.
WISHIN Pulse is Now Live with Three New Connections – WISHIN Pulse is now connected to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), DaVita, and UnityPoint Health. WISHIN has worked these three organizations through the eHealth Exchange to allow WISHIN members to exchange clinical data with them. Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN)
Delaware Health Information Network’s (@DHIN_HIE) roots reach back to 1997 when the Delaware General Assembly enacted the organization as a public/private partnership. The objective was, and remains today, to advance the creation of a statewide health information network that addresses the state’s needs for timely, reliable and relevant health care information. In 2007, DHIN “went live” – meaning it became the first operational statewide health information exchange in the nation.

New York -Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY)
The SHIN-NY is the only HIE that provides universal access regardless of network or EHR system. New York State has made a significant investment in the SHIN-NY and in 2016 they set a goal of connecting 100% of the PPS across the state to the SHIN-NY. The eight RHIOs that make up the SHIN-NY are working directly with the PPS organizations to meet their needs.

Todd M. Rogow becomes new President and CEO at Healthix – Healthix (@healthix) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has appointed Todd M. Rogow as President and Chief Executive Officer effective May 1, 2019. Todd has held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Healthix.
Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN)
The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (@MiHIN) is Michigan’s initiative to continuously improve health care quality, efficiency, and patient safety by promoting secure, electronic exchange of health information through the MiHIN Health Information Services Cloud (HISC). MiHIN represents a growing network of public and private organizations working to overcome data sharing barriers, reduce costs, and ultimately advance the health of Michigan’s population.
Velatura unveils new collaborative, data visualization product to increase healthcare interoperability – During the 2019 HIMSS Global Conference, Velatura, a subsidiary of Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services, unveiled a new product focusing on a collaborative, data visualization environment to increase interoperability within healthcare. Interoperability Land™, a simulated healthcare environment hosted in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, is designed to power the future of multi-organization development, integration, acceptance and testing of innovative technologies.
Colorado Regional Health Information Exchange (CORHIO)
CORHIO (@CORHIO) manages one of the country’s largest and most successful health information exchange networks and works to improve healthcare through the use of information technology and data exchange.
CORHIO Announces New Chief Information Officer – The CORHIO board of directors and executive leadership team are pleased to welcome Deanna Towne to her new role as Chief Information Officer. Towne most recently held the position of IT Director and Acting Deputy Chief Customer Officer of the Governor’s Office of Information Technology for the past five years.
Michigan – Great Lakes Health Connect (GLHC)
Great Lakes Health Connect (@GLHC_HIE) is one of the largest and most successful Health Information Exchanges in the country and is growing rapidly. GLHC is committed to creating care-connected communities across Michigan. Their vision is to enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes, and reduce costs across the continuum of care.

Utah Health Information Network (UHIN)
UHIN (@UHIN_HIE) has been in operation since 1993 beginning as a claims “post office.” Today it also operates the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE), which empowers doctors and patients to work together for safer, better-coordinated care by making crucial information available to doctors at the point of care.

Texas – Healthcare Access San Antonio (HASA)
Healthcare Access San Antonio (@HASA_TX) offers value-based, patient-centered information services intended to improve the health status of individuals and the communities it serves. HASA brings together healthcare providers from larger health systems to single physician practices-to enable the secure exchange of health information throughout Central Texas, ensuring that providers have this information securely at their fingertips when and where they need it.
HASA Selects 4medica to Match Patient Identities – HASA recently announced its selection of the 4medica Big Data MPI™ to reconcile and correctly match patient identity data to the right records. The 4medica® solution will enable HASA to provide its provider participants and other Texas and state HIE partners with accurate, real-time patient data, an initiative that supports the IHI Triple Aim goals for optimizing health system performance.

Missouri – Missouri Health Connection (MHC)
Missouri Health Connection (@HealthConnectMO), a non‐profit organization, is the state‐designated HIE organization that provides a secure and private electronic platform for sharing health information.
Missouri Health Connection and DrFirst Partner to Expand and Improve State-Wide Access to Life-Saving Medication History Data – DrFirst, a provider of e-prescribing, price transparency, and medication management solutions, announced that it has successfully implemented an interoperability gateway with Missouri Health Connection (MHC) that will give clinicians easy access to the deepest, most reliable sources of medication history. As one of the largest health information exchange (HIE) networks in the United States, MHC is the only secure, statewide HIE in Missouri. Expanding into the Midwest, MHC provides more than 8,000 clinicians, hundreds of clinics and community health centers and more than 75 hospitals, and health plans with access to comprehensive patient health records for more than 20+ million patients.
Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)
Indiana Health Information Exchange (@IndianaHIE) operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure, robust and interoperable health information technology network that connects over 150 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers.
